Replaces VSS mechanical technology
Traditionally, the VSS signal has been generated mechanically inside the transmission assembly.
The CAN/VSS Adapter is used to generate a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal in late-model vehicles. The CAN/VSS Adapter queries the vehicle speed from the ECU's CAN Bus through the OBDII diagnostic connector and generates VSS pulses.
This device works with all 2008 and later vehicles and some vehicles manufactured as early as 2005. Stalker maintains a list of compatible CAN Bus vehicles.
Moving the radar from one vehicle to another is simple — UNPLUG and PLUG.
When your department upgrades vehicles, transferring the radar to the new vehicle is as simple as UNPLUG and PLUG using the OBDII diagnostic connector (always located under the driver's side dash).
Power and ground are also supplied through the CAN/VSS Adapter. And you'll have all of the advantages of traditional VSS:
•
Shadowing is virtually eliminated.
• Batching is virtually eliminated.
• Low speed combining effects are virtually eliminated.
• When stationary, Moving mode "false" patrol speed is eliminated.
• Instantly acquires and tracks patrol speeds from 1-200 mph while switching in and out of hold.
• Automatic Moving / Stationary switching.
• Patrol speed variations produced by weather effects are dramatically reduced.
